The solo blues courses provide a huge range of skills including isolations, what to do with your arms, and – of course – some kick-ass solo blues moves!! These courses are great if you are training alone or with a partner, and the skills learnt in these classes can be applied to both your solo and partner dancing.
Tilt, swing, roll & rock your hips! Learn all the classic hip moves you need to know, plus some more complex ones! Classes are designed to help build your solo blues vocabulary, develop your range of hip motion and improve your quality movement.

Arms. The partner dancers’ nemesis! Wave goodbye to your awkward T-Rex arms and embrace my top tips for awesome arms – how to move them, where to put them, what to do with your hands, and how to make them an asset in your dancing. Start using your whole body to express the music!
Classes include: arm placement; shapes; spotlighting; pushing & pulling; resistance & speed; shoulder styling; shimmy; hands; and the arms challenge!
The Fishtail Special
Blues idiom dances were originally separate dances, where people would dance variations of a single move for a whole song. With this idea in mind I have created ‘The Fishtail Special’, a whole course exploring different ways to dance this classic move!
Classes include: the fishtail; travelling fishtail; single time fishtail; adding rhythms to your fishtails; fishtails turning; fishtails with hip bump; playing with the size and texture of your fishtails.
The foot and ankle contain 26 bones; 33 joints; and more than 100 muscles, tendons and ligaments. This course is dedicated to these wonderful body parts that are so fundamental not only in our dancing, but in holding us up and getting us around everyday. Explore the full potential of your feet and create some fancy footwork.
Classes include: stomps; rolls; taps; kicks, brushes; kick ball change; twists; foot fans; James Brown; tick tocks; happy feet and more!

No problem! Send us a message and we’ll get right back to you.
We have a special ‘Beginner Survival Kit’ series which has been designed specifically for beginners. Once you have completed all the classes in this series you will be ready to try any of the other series. All other courses are suitable for intermediate level dancers and above. All courses begin with more basic techniques and moves and progress in difficulty throughout the course.
Absolutely! Although advanced dancers may be familiar with some of the moves and techniques that are taught in the classes, there is always more to learn! Advanced dancers can enrich their vocabulary, get new ideas for combining moves, refine their fundamental techniques, pick up new tips and techniques, improve their solo and partnership skills, and develop their style. Dancers who are teaching or interested in teaching can discover new ways of breaking down and explaining moves, practice exercises that can be used in classes, and collect lots of new ideas for class content.
If you are new to blues dancing then we recommend starting with the ‘Beginner Survival Kit’. This series is specially designed for beginners and will give you all the information you need to get out there and enjoy yourself on the dance floor.
For all other levels – improver, intermediate, advanced, masters (whatever label you like to use!) – we highly recommend starting with our Essential Skills series. This series includes skills and ideas that we believe are essential in becoming good, no… great blues dancers. The techniques and ideas explained in this series will underpin the majority of all our other classes. However, you are of course free to pick choose whichever courses interest you the most!
